Danny Breaks, born Daniel Whiddett, is a British drum and bass DJ, producer, and record label owner from Eastwood, Essex. He began his music career in the early 1990s under the alias Sonz of a Loop Da Loop Era, gaining recognition with the 1991 track Far Out, which reached the UK Singles Chart.
In 1994, Whiddett founded the Droppin' Science label, releasing music as Danny Breaks. His work during this period mirrored the genre's evolution from hardcore to jungle and contemporary drum and bass. Notable releases include Dislocated Sounds (1999) and From Beyond Infinity (2000).
Throughout his career, Danny Breaks has collaborated with labels such as True Playaz and Moving Shadow, and has recorded under various aliases, including D. Whiddett and Safari Sounds. His experimental approach, particularly in instrumental hip hop, has influenced a range of electronic music genres.
In 2015, Whiddett relocated to Cologne, Germany, continuing his contributions to the music scene. His innovative productions and commitment to evolving soundscapes have solidified his status as a respected figure in drum and bass.
