Hailing from the cultural heartland of Bristol, born and raised, DJ Clipz is widely respected and recognised as a vanguard of the Drum and Bass community. Born Hugh Pescod, he grew up within the musical sanctuary of St. Paul's, absorbing the diverse cultural influences that the area is renowned for. This creative environment deeply influenced his musical tastes and abilities, culminating in an early yearning towards reggae, dub, and most crucially, drum and bass genres.
DJ Clipz’s footprints in drum and bass trace back to the very roots of the genre, with his first notable endeavour as part of the 'Full Cycle' crew. A squadron of musical innovators including legends such as Roni Size and Krust, Full Cycle was known for their pioneering Bristol sound. Embracing this communal homegrown ethos, Clipz was soon bringing his signature blend of kinetic beats and brooding basslines into the mix. His breakthrough came in 2004 with the release of his single, Down 4, which placed both him and the Bristol sound firmly on the drum and bass map.
Clipz’s signature style of drum and bass is known for its raw energy and relentless pace.
