R4NS0M is a drum and bass producer and DJ originally connected to the Washington DC scene and now based in Boston, Massachusetts. Active as a DJ since 1997, he first emerged during the growth of jungle and drum and bass across the Baltimore and Washington DC area, later becoming part of the Step Syndicate crew and holding down a slot on WMUC 88.1 FM.
His early production work included Broadcast with Corrupt Souls on Moving Shadow and Breach with Sinthetix and UFO! on Ohm Resistance, before a later period of rebuilding and refining his production approach. That return has shaped a catalogue rooted in rolling pressure, darker low-end movement and a distinctly North American drum and bass sensibility.
Recent R4NS0M releases have appeared on labels including Four Corners Music, Detached Audio, Soul Deep, Co-Lab Recordings, WiddFam, Seminal Sounds, Driven AM Recordings and 3024. His 2026 output includes The Distance Travelled EP on Four Corners Music and SoS ’96 for DrumAD, continuing a steady run of work that connects his long history in the scene with a current, focused production identity.
