It’s been reported in the New Zealand press that Dimension has tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19 and had been out before his period of isolation was complete.

Dimension was due to be one of the headline artists at the sold out Rhythm and Alps event in Wanaka, but has had to pull out of performing following his positive test result.

Other acts unable to perform at festival who may have been in close contact with Dimension include Friction, Culture Shock, Sin Howard & Lee Mvtthews.

They all now have to self-isolate for seven days.

New Zealand Omicron Case

The Ministry of Health announced a border-related Omicron case had been out and about in Auckland on the 26th & 27th December.

The Guardian reported that the positive result of the day nine test was received on 27th December and the person who supplied the test result was immediately transferred to an Auckland managed isolation & quarantine facility on the same day at which point the Omicron variant was confirmed.

New Zealand has had a very strict quarantine policy in place since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Due to these stringent measures the country has enjoyed some huge festival events over the past year or so.

Extremely Sorry

In an exposé on 1news in New Zealand Dimension said that he was “of the understanding” he had completed his quarantine period before entering the community. 

“I cannot put into words how extremely sorry I am to everyone who will be impacted,” he said.

“Never in a million years did I think anything like this would be a reality in a country that I love so much and that has always made me feel so welcome.“

Posting on his own Instagram account Dimension stated that “As a result of my name being revealed in the media, I received many comments of hate and abuse“

“I want to reiterate my apologies to those who I have inadvertently put at risk as a result of my misunderstandings. I realise the gravity of the situation and I am deeply regretful to those who have been impacted; including members of the public, event organisers and close contacts.“

Great Year For Dimension

Until this point 2021 had been a great year for Dimension.

The summer saw him perform at an incredible run of festival events. He recently sold out his headline live show at Printworks in London, and he was awarded a silver disc for his single ‘Desire’, a collaboration with Sub Focus.

He also of course released his debut album ‘Organ’ to widespread critical acclaim.
