Drum & bass and orchestras : a winning combination.

A tried and tested fusion already smashed by the likes of Goldie, Roni Size, Camo & Krooked and, most recently, The Fiber Pianist’s Polyphonic project (to name but a few), the unique and bombastic meeting of classical ensembles with the futuristic sounds of D&B and jungle is an exhilerating experience which compounds just how timeless and universal this music truly is.

Now time for the grandmasters to show us their take on symphonic D&B as none other than Fabio & Grooverider team up with the famous Outlook Orchestra later this month for a one-off night at London’s Southbank Centre on Saturday January 29.

“This project will showcase some of the huge records we have loved and championed throughout the years,” the pioneering duo tell us. “We are very excited to bring such a unique concept to the scene we helped create. The show will be iconic and legendary can’t say anymore than that!”

Iconic, legendary and a mystery as to which tracks Fabio & Grooverider and the Outlook Orchestra (who have worked and performed with a huge range of soundsystem / bass music artists from David Rodigan to Dizzee Rascal to Mala) will be performing on the night. With 30 years of beats to draw from, the options are endless, but they have given us some hints with this deep diving playlist of foundation classics ranging from Lennie De Ice – We Are IE to John B – Up All Night.

Over three hours of seminal bangers spanning the whole spectrum. If you’re looking for a playlist to ease yourself into the new year to, look no further. And if you’re looking to attend this special one-night-only event on January 29, then look no further then this ticket link, too. We’ll see you there.
