Space Dub by Askel & Elere – Full Review & Analysis

Finnish duo Askel & Elere blast off with Space Dub, a high-energy, tongue-in-cheek roller that’s as much a lesson in sound design as it is a dancefloor weapon. Following on from January’s Step In, this latest release on Soulvent Records is a playful yet precise exploration of space—both sonic and celestial.

With guest appearances from drum & bass heavyweights Jonny Mitekiss and Jon GLXY, Space Dub leans into its own concept, acknowledging the vast emptiness in a mix while simultaneously filling every inch of it with rich, distorted bass, crisp percussion, and an irreverent, freewheeling energy. The result is a track that feels effortlessly fun yet meticulously crafted—signature Askel & Elere through and through.

Sonically, expect deep, warping basslines and intricate soundscapes punctuated by moments of breathing room, allowing the track’s concept to shine. It’s the kind of tune that doesn’t take itself too seriously yet still delivers a serious impact, making it a must-spin for DJs and an essential listen for fans of forward-thinking drum & bass.

Space Dub lands on Friday, 4th April via Soulvent Records—make space in your playlist.
