Returning with undeniable presence and purpose, Scottish producer Beskar delivers his latest Dirtbox Recordings release with a statement of intent. Titled You Can’t Have Me / CØunts, this two-track assault builds on his already impressive reputation with a cinematic flair and genre-warping confidence.

You Can’t Have Me

Beskar opens with what may be his most commanding intro to date. Gothic choral layers, eerie ambience and a chilling spoken vocal set the tone for something epic. And it delivers. The drop is all-out sonic warfare, fusing sharp-edged synths and pounding low-end with a theatrical energy that feels custom-made for dark warehouses and festival stages alike. There are nods to 4/4 drum & bass, jungle breaks, and more experimental touches, but the through-line is pure intensity. This is Beskar at his most cinematic: powerful, precise, and completely uncompromising.

CØunts

Track two throws out the rulebook. Where the A-side leans into atmospheric dread, CØunts goes straight for the jugular. It starts like a live set opener, full of claps and guitar crunch, channelling the spirit of Pendulum with a darker twist. From there it twists into a crossbreed onslaught, part DnB, part hardcore, with elements of metal, rap and scream vocals all competing for dominance. Somehow, Beskar keeps it all coherent, building to a final drop that hits like a sledgehammer. Unfiltered and unrelenting, this is as bold a sonic statement as anything in the Dirtbox catalogue to date.

With past releases on RAM and Eatbrain, Beskar is clearly not one to be boxed in. This EP is another leap forward, uniting theatrical production with dancefloor damage. And if this is any sign of what’s to come, expect much more from him before the year is out.

Out 18 July 2025 via Dirtbox Recordings (Beatport & Spotify exclusive), full release 1 August.
