Conrad Subs returns to Metalheadz with METHXX040, a tightly produced three-tracker that sits at the intersection of modern precision and old-school flair. It is a release that speaks through detail, weight and subtlety rather than impact alone.
Opener Texture lives up to its name, pairing steppy drums with a haunting atmosphere shaped by sweeping pads and vintage-style strings. It is a controlled roller with a distinctly 90s feel, but never feels stuck in the past.
Street Lights brings a more stripped-back approach. Rolling percussion and deep sub bass anchor a soft, looping phrase that sits somewhere between a vocal and a synth. It is smooth and restrained, ideal for the headphones or a smoky warm-up set.
The final track, Technical Pressure No.1, reaches further into the roots. Old-school breaks meet hushed textures and scattered vocal stabs, creating a submerged, almost aquatic energy. It is jungle at its most refined.
There is no need for overstatement here. This is a deep, confident release that lets the craft do the talking. Another strong addition to the METHXX series and further proof of Conrad Subs’ evolving mastery.
