Dysfunction crashes onto 1 More Thing with Confusion EP, a furious four-track workout that captures the wild spirit of modern bass music. Across drum & bass, hardcore, and 140 pressure, the Welsh producer fires on all cylinders, delivering some of the label’s heaviest material to date.

Opening track Hypocritical Oath channels a late-90s Moving Fusion influence through a 2025 lens. Classic break architecture meets beefed-up low-end and crisp digital precision, resulting in a weapon built equally for nostalgia and impact. Title track Confusion flips the formula, combining 4×4 drive and hardcore ferocity into a stomping hybrid that feels both chaotic and tightly controlled. It is peak-time chaos engineered with purpose.

Tremens is the EP’s wild card. It blurs genre lines with manic tempo shifts and a barrage of distorted neuro textures, evoking the intensity of Current Value or Abis while keeping Dysfunction’s signature unpredictability intact. Closer Failsafe dives into dubstep territory with thunderous subs and a slow, deliberate groove that could flatten a warehouse floor. Its careful pacing and sudden rhythmic snaps make it one of the release’s standout moments.

After standout outings on Dialect Audio and Murmuration earlier in the year, Confusion EP marks a decisive step forward. It is raw, inventive and unflinchingly heavy, reflecting both the producer’s experimental mindset and 1 More Thing’s ongoing commitment to the fringes of the bass continuum. With this release, Dysfunction solidifies their reputation as one of the UK’s most daring new producers, operating fearlessly at the intersection of genres.

Confusion EP is out on 21 November 2025 via 1 More Thing.
