Sub Focus returns with his fourth solo album, Contact, released on 21 November 2025 via Positiva Records. The 14-track project is a widescreen celebration of modern drum and bass, as the veteran producer continues to push boundaries two decades into his career. Every track features a vocal contribution, creating a striking cohesion across its dynamic range.
Collaborations include Fireboy DML on the soulful opener Ecuador, Grimes lending her ethereal presence to Entwined, and a high-energy link-up with John Summit and Julia Church on Go Back. Elsewhere, Poppy Baskcomb, Connie Constance, Emily Makis, and Katy B all feature, adding their distinct voices to a record that thrives on texture and emotion. The result is a meticulously produced album that balances rave-ready energy with pop-laced accessibility.
Production-wise, Contact feels like a culmination of Sub Focus’s journey through the evolving landscape of drum and bass. His trademark precision is present throughout, yet there’s a warmth and looseness to tracks like Roll Too Deep (with Subsonic) and On & On (featuring bbyclose), revealing a producer entirely at ease with his sound. It’s music built for the club, but with enough melodic nuance to hold up on headphones.
The album’s visual identity, developed with photographer Neil Krug and design studio Big Active, draws inspiration from retro futurism and NASA’s Golden Record – fitting for a project that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. Across its 14 cuts, Contact distils what makes Sub Focus such an enduring figure: attention to detail, cross-genre curiosity, and an instinct for timeless hooks.
After a monumental year that saw him headline with the Worship collective alongside 1991, Culture Shock, and Dimension at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Sub Focus closes 2025 on a high. Contact isn’t just a victory lap – it’s a statement of intent from an artist still defining the sound of drum and bass for the next generation.
