Askel & Elere return to Soulvent Records with “The Light Feels Low,” a track that gently peels back the layers of their typically punchier production to reveal something more intimate and emotionally rich. Known for past heaters like “Step In” and “Space Dub,” this marks the Finnish-Gambian duo’s third release as part of Soulvent’s 10-year anniversary series—and it might be their most delicate yet.

From the first breath of YENIAS’ tender vocal, the track glides effortlessly into a dreamlike space. A soft, swinging groove underpins shimmering synthwork and wisps of vocal chops, giving the tune both weight and lightness. There’s a steady evolution from melancholic introspection to a kind of uplifting release, led by a gliding bassline that feels more like a slow exhale than a drop.

Where previous releases have leaned into club-ready energy, “The Light Feels Low” offers a more meditative moment—proof of Askel & Elere’s dexterity as producers. It’s music for golden hours, headphone sessions, and quiet triumphs. One to keep the lights on for.
