Sand Cave EP by ZeroZero – Full Review & Analysis

ZeroZero are back on Total Science’s C.I.A imprint with the Sand Cave EP, a polished four-tracker that marks another confident step forward in their evolution. Known for blending weighty minimalism with subtle funk, the duo have fine-tuned their sound even further on this release, drawing from deep influences while keeping one foot firmly in the future.

Opening with the title track Sand Cave, they set the tone with sharp percussion, eerie atmospheres and a stripped-back sense of tension. It is a track that creates space on the dancefloor rather than filling it, and that control is what makes it hit so effectively.

Stranger follows with a moodier bounce. Off-kilter vocal chops and rolling drums carry the tune into that sweet spot between techy and soulful, perfect for DJs looking to switch gears without losing momentum.

On AMO, ZeroZero lean into a more mechanical, steppy rhythm. The groove is taut and deliberate, underpinned by a serious low-end pulse that will rattle through sound systems with ease. It is a modern take on classic C.I.A flavours, done with poise and style.

Closing the EP is Submerged, a deeper, more introspective cut. Laced with cinematic textures and rich sub pressure, it shows a different side to the duo’s production, rounding off the release with real finesse.

The Sand Cave EP shows ZeroZero at their most refined yet. Every track is carefully crafted, rooted in the legacy of the label but delivered with a modern clarity that few can match.
