Karnal is the production alias of Zac Dyer, a UK-based drum and bass DJ and producer associated with Bristol and London’s underground electronic music scenes. His sound draws from raw rolling drum and bass, jungle pressure, UK garage influences and minimal low-end movement, with an emphasis on rhythm, space and club-focused energy.
He first gained wider attention with the Function One EP, a three-track release issued through Redacted Bristol on Bandcamp. The release helped establish his approach to stripped-back bass weight, tight drums and rugged UK sonics, with support reaching across the wider drum and bass scene.
Alongside his recorded output, Karnal has been active within Bristol’s rave circuit, with performances including appearances at venues such as Thekla and Crofters Rights. He is also connected with Prospect Sound as a resident DJ, further tying his work to a grassroots platform focused on underground electronic music.
With Set Speed / Procedure marking his debut on Dispatch Limited, Karnal continues to shape a sound rooted in system pressure, break-led movement and Bristol-weighted bass detail.
