Terravita is an American electronic music duo from Boston, Massachusetts, consisting of Chris Barlow and Jon Spero. Originally a trio with Matt Simmers, who departed in 2016 to pursue a solo career, Terravita has been a significant force in the bass music scene since the mid-2000s. They initially gained recognition in the drum and bass genre before expanding their repertoire to include dubstep, trap, and other bass-heavy styles.
In 2011, Terravita released the track Up In The Club, which played a pivotal role in defining the drumstep genre. This release marked a turning point in their career, leading to over a dozen top ten hits on Beatport's dubstep and drum and bass charts. Their 2014 album, Rituals, featured notable tracks such as Bach Off, We Are Alive, and Losing Control, a collaboration with Datsik.
Throughout their career, Terravita has collaborated with and remixed artists like Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, and Bassnectar, showcasing their versatility and influence within the electronic music community. They have also toured extensively, sharing stages with prominent acts and performing at major festivals, including Electric Daisy Carnival and Shambhala.
