Rua Tui are a Bristol-based drum and bass duo comprised of Aidan and Angus, producers whose work sits firmly in the city’s long-standing sound system tradition. Their music is characterised by weighty low-end, spacious arrangements, and a clear emphasis on vocal performance, often building tracks around MC-led narratives rather than treating vocals as an afterthought.
Working closely with artists such as Kathika, Rua Tui have developed a collaborative approach that prioritises concept as much as sonics. On Banshee, they placed four female MCs at the forefront of a stripped-back but hard-hitting production, tying the release to a Bristol fundraiser in aid of Refuge. The project reflected both their technical discipline in the studio and their commitment to platforming voices within the wider drum and bass community.
Beyond releases, Rua Tui are also active promoters, running events under Tremor Soundsystem and Church of Love since 2011. Their nights are known for diverse line-ups and a cross-generational crowd, reflecting the inclusive ethos that runs through their music. Whether in the studio or behind a rig, Rua Tui remain rooted in Bristol’s culture, balancing heavyweight production with a strong sense of community responsibility.
