Med School Music was founded in 2006 as an experimental sister imprint to Hospital Records. Created to give a platform to emerging voices and leftfield projects, it became a breeding ground for some of the most original and forward-thinking drum and bass of the late 2000s and 2010s. With an ethos centred on innovation and risk-taking, Med School prided itself on championing artists who pushed beyond the traditional frameworks of the genre.

The label launched the careers of talents such as Etherwood and Keeno, while also providing a platform for experimental projects from established artists. Its catalogue embraced everything from soulful liquid to darker, more minimal productions, cementing its reputation as a home for originality within drum and bass.

Alongside its releases, Med School played an active role in artist development and education, often described as an incubator for the next generation of Hospital Records signings. Despite closing in 2019, the label’s legacy remains significant, with its releases still celebrated as some of the most distinctive and creative works in the Hospital family.

Though no longer active, Med School Music stands as a symbol of experimentation and artistic freedom, remembered for its role in shaping the careers of boundary-pushing producers and leaving behind a catalogue that continues to inspire fans and artists alike.
