There’s a certain weight to a Geostatic release—and Losing Control on Dispatch more than lives up to the expectation. With a flair for moody textures, intricate rhythm work, and emotionally honest sound design, the Austria-based producer delivers an EP that feels deeply personal yet primed for the floor.
The title track “Losing Control” immediately sets a hypnotic tone. It’s brooding and spacious, driven by crisp drums and submerged vocals that drip with longing. The haunting topline rides the groove with intent, never overwhelming, just enough to pull you under. A locked-in roller that doesn’t shout, but simmers with quiet intensity—this one lingers.
“Reversed Destiny” with Acris takes a conceptual leap. Inspired by Tenet’s time-inversion trickery, it uses reversed pads, looping motifs, and deliberate disorientation to brilliant effect. Both producers share a love for depth and dynamics, and here they blend them into a spiralling narrative—emotive, techy, and unpredictable, but still grounded in weighty subs.
“Feral Funk” keeps the collaboration energy high, this time with Dub Ten. There’s an unmistakable UK swagger to this one: tight percs, rolling breaks, and low-end pressure that nods to the jungle lineage. Legend has it it was born on a train ride—and it does carry that forward motion, like a carriage gliding through twilight, blurred lights outside and full focus inside.
Closing with “Devotion”, the EP softens without losing power. A soulful, stepping groove with melancholic pads and a warm, embracing bassline, it’s the kind of closer that doesn’t scream for attention but invites you to breathe out—reflective, polished, and full of feeling.
Geostatic’s Losing Control EP is a masterclass in cohesion through variation. It moves between cinematic themes, techy explorations, and soulful bassweight with effortless control—ironic, given the title. A fine return to Dispatch, and a reminder that the most emotional rollers are often the most enduring.
