Three years is a long time in drum and bass. Scenes shift, new names surface, attention drifts. So when Logistics reappears with Composure, you feel it straight away. Not nostalgia exactly. More of a familiar warmth. A tone you recognise within seconds.

Released on 27 February via Hospital Records, the single leads into his forthcoming album Earthling, due 26 March. It also marks his first collaboration with Charlotte X, who is signed to Hospital’s publishing arm Songs In The Key Of Knife. On paper it makes sense. In practice, it clicks even more than you might expect.

The drums are crisp but not overworked. Classic Logistics in that sense. Rolling, lightly swung, and sitting comfortably in that liquid pocket Hospital built its reputation on in the late 2000s. There is space in the mix. Actual air. The bassline glides rather than punches, warm and rounded, giving the whole track a kind of unhurried confidence.

Then Charlotte X comes in. Her vocal does not dominate the instrumental, and that restraint feels deliberate. There is a softness to her tone, but also a steady centre. She threads through the arrangement rather than sitting on top of it, which keeps the track DJ-friendly. You can imagine it sliding into a second drop in a liquid set without losing momentum. Maybe even doubled with something older from the Hospital catalogue. It has that compatibility.

What stands out most is the balance. Composure feels rooted in the label’s heritage without sounding like a throwback exercise. The melodic phrasing, the subtle builds, the careful breakdown into the final section, all of it feels considered but not clinical. There is a lightness to the production that suggests experience rather than effort.

As a lead single, it sets the tone for Earthling without overselling itself. No fireworks for the sake of it. Just a well-crafted liquid record that understands its lane and stays in it. Sometimes that is exactly what you want. And, honestly, it is good to have Logistics back in this space again.
