There is a particular warmth to Chazinho that catches you off guard.
On paper, this is a Drum and Bass single from Fernando Ferreira, released via Liquid Flow. In reality, it feels closer to a late afternoon in São Paulo, sun dipping, percussion drifting across an open window. The BPM says one thing. The groove says another.
Chazinho rolls out with easy confidence. The drums swing rather than snap, and the bassline moves with a kind of elastic grace. Nothing is forced. You can hear the samba influence not as a surface layer, but in the phrasing itself. The percussion patterns breathe. They shuffle. They almost smile. It is Drum and Bass, yes, but it is also something softer around the edges, more human. I found myself nodding along without even realising. That rarely happens with tracks pitched at this tempo.
Then there is The Goat. Different mood entirely.
Where Chazinho glides, this one steps forward. Firmer kick and snare, a more assertive low end, structure built with DJs in mind. You can picture it sliding into a liquid or deeper dancefloor set, lifting the energy without tipping into aggression. Ferreira shows control here, tightening the arrangement, letting the basslines speak clearly without clutter. It feels deliberate, but never rigid. There is space in the mix, space for the groove to flex.
What stands out across both cuts is how naturally the Brazilian elements sit inside the framework. They are not decorative flourishes added for flavour. They shape the rhythm, the swing, the emotional tone. That is harder to pull off than it sounds. Plenty of producers attempt cross-cultural blends and end up with something slightly awkward. This does not feel awkward. It feels lived in.
Released in 2026, The Goat / Chazinho reinforces Ferreira’s position within the Brazilian Drum and Bass movement, particularly the Sambass lineage that has long threaded local musical heritage into UK-born foundations. There is respect for the form here. But also personality, and plenty of it.
