Merikan, aka Guiliano Gronholz, is a drum and bass producer and DJ from Pozzuoli, Italy, known for the harder, more clinical end of neurofunk. He came into electronic music early, heading into hardcore raves as a teenager before locking into drum and bass properly. In 2011, he enrolled at Point Blank in London, where he sharpened his production skills and crossed paths with artists including Disprove.
His first releases followed soon after, with Flipside EP on Disturbed Recordings and Metamorphosis EP on Close 2 Death Recordings. Banality Of Evil EP pushed that run further in 2016, the same year four of his tracks were signed to Black Sun Empire's Blackout Music NL. Since then, Merikan has kept a steady line in the tougher end of the spectrum, with later releases and remixes appearing through Blackout Music NL, Eatbrain, and PRSPCT Recordings, including Chimaera, Warhammer, Ultimatum (Merikan Remix), and Shake It (Merikan Remix). The thread through all of it is pretty clear: tight control, heavy pressure, and a sound built for darker rooms.
