Nectax: Drum and Bass Biography, Releases and Upcoming Events

Nectax, the alias of Newcastle-based producer and DJ Ollie Underhill, has rapidly emerged as a standout figure in the drum and bass scene. Inspired by legendary labels such as RAM, Hospital, and Shogun, Nectax began experimenting with music production during his teenage years, using FL Studio to craft his early tracks.

His breakthrough came with releases on Spectre Audio, Dub Damage, and Diamond Audio, where he made an impact with jump-up tracks characterised by sharp snares and deep basslines. In 2019, his Paradox EP on Serial Killaz highlighted his ability to merge intricate breaks with melodic depth. The track Hologram from this release became a standout, earning support from prominent DJs like Serum, Voltage, and Bladerunner.

Building on this momentum, Nectax released Voychek in 2023, a track celebrated for its atmospheric energy and jungle-inspired rhythms. He has also collaborated with Skantia on Providence, released through the iconic RAM Records, showcasing his versatility and growing influence within the genre.

Nectax has made significant contributions as a DJ, with performances at key events, including a memorable Boiler Room debut. As a resident DJ and active member of Newcastle’s drum and bass scene, he has played a pivotal role in revitalising the local community, using his platform to inspire and connect with audiences.
