Nia Archives, born Dehaney Nia Lishahn Hunt in September 1999 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, is a British DJ, producer, and singer-songwriter renowned for her innovative fusion of jungle music with contemporary sounds. Growing up in a musically diverse environment, she was influenced by her Jamaican heritage and the vibrant music scenes of Leeds and Manchester. Her early exposure to genres like gospel, hip-hop, and reggae played a pivotal role in shaping her eclectic musical style.
In 2020, Nia made her debut with the single Sober Feels, a track that showcased her ability to blend soulful vocals with the energetic rhythms of jungle. This release marked the beginning of a series of critically acclaimed projects, including her debut EP, Headz Gone West (2021), and the follow-up Forbidden Feelingz (2022). The latter's title track received a silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry, underscoring her growing impact on the UK music scene.
Nia's innovative approach has garnered significant recognition. In 2022, she became the first electronic artist to receive the BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year award and won the Best Electronic/Dance Act at the MOBO Awards. Her influence was further acknowledged with a nomination for the Rising Star award at the 2023 BRIT Awards. April 2024 saw the release of her debut studio album, Silence Is Loud, which debuted at number 16 on the UK Albums Chart. The album represents a bold exploration of jungle infused with Britpop elements, featuring tracks that highlight her versatility and depth as an artist.
