Shapeshifter, formed in 1999 in Christchurch, New Zealand, is a live drum and bass band renowned for blending heavy soul, dub, and funk influences with high-energy electronic music. The group was founded by Nick Robinson, Dan McGruer, Sam Trevethick, and Redford Grenell, later joined by vocalist Paora 'P Digsss' Apera.
Their debut album Realtime (2001) earned critical acclaim, followed by Riddim Wise (2004), which solidified their unique sound. Subsequent albums like Soulstice (2006) and The System Is A Vampire (2009) achieved multi-platinum status in New Zealand, highlighting their mainstream success.
