Alexander Pavlenko, professionally known as Sunchase, is a renowned Ukrainian electronic music producer and DJ. Originally from Dnipro, he began his musical journey in the late 1990s and quickly gained recognition for his innovative approach to drum and bass. His early releases on influential labels such as Moving Shadow and DSCI4 established him as a standout figure within the genre.
In 2010, Sunchase released his debut album, Static Nitro, which received widespread acclaim for its intricate soundscapes and genre-blurring compositions. That same year, he relocated to Kyiv, where he became immersed in the city's dynamic electronic music scene. This environment influenced him to expand his musical horizons, incorporating elements of techno and breakbeat into his signature style while remaining rooted in drum and bass.
Sunchase is also the founder of the record labels Kvadrat and 22:22, both of which serve as platforms for experimental and forward-thinking electronic music. In addition, he co-founded Rhythm Büro, a renowned event series and label known for its cutting-edge releases and immersive events. Under his alias Na Nich, he has contributed to Rhythm Büro’s catalogue, showcasing his versatility as a producer.
After a decade-long hiatus from album production, Sunchase returned in 2020 with his sophomore album, Timeline, released on Kyiv-based label Kashtan Records. The album explores a variety of electronic subgenres, including drum and bass, IDM, and dubstep, reflecting his artistic evolution and maturity. Beyond production, Sunchase is a sought-after mastering engineer and a celebrated live performer, with his tracks featured in video games by Rockstar Games and Sony Computer Entertainment, further extending his influence in the electronic music world.
