Was a be is a drum and bass project that originated in Como, Italy, in 2011. Initially starting as a DJ duo, they quickly became part of the renowned Milanese event "This is dnb!", performing in top clubs in their region and sharing the stage with leading artists in the global drum and bass scene.
In 2013, Was a be began producing their own music, releasing tracks on the Italian bass label Mother Inc Sound. That same year, their collaboration with fellow Como producer Kiril, titled Direct Tone, was featured on the UK label Flexout. The following year, their remix of Entry was released by the French label Vandal Records, further establishing their presence in the international drum and bass community.
Their productions continued to gain acclaim, leading to a pivotal moment in 2015 when they connected with Teebee and released the Jah EP on his label, Subtitles. This release received positive reviews from international critics. Additionally, at the end of that year, they contributed to the Ten Years EP, the inaugural release of Turin-based The Dreamers Recordings, celebrating the decade-long anniversary of the city's celebrated party. This EP was later named "Money Shot" by DJ Mag UK in early 2016.
The turning point in their career came in the summer of 2016 when Friction and K-Tee took an interest in their sound. This collaboration resulted in the Blind EP, released in early August on the esteemed Shogun Audio label, with its premiere on BBC Radio 1's Drum & Bass Show.
Through their innovative productions and dynamic performances, Was a be has solidified their reputation as a significant force in the drum and bass genre, continually pushing the boundaries of their craft.
