Dirtbox Recordings begins 2026 with DNB Essentials Vol. 1, the opening chapter in a new compilation series built on collaboration, discovery and progression within Drum & Bass. Curated and mixed by label founder Lee UHF, the release reimagines the classic label compilation as a modern showcase for diverse producers united by one vision.
Across sixteen tracks, DNB Essentials Vol. 1 spans contributions from the UK, Australia, Sweden, USA, Russia, Puerto Rico, Spain, Portugal and Argentina. The mix captures the label’s balance of intensity and musicality, guided by Lee UHF’s sequencing and structure. It plays like a journey through the evolving sound of the label, maintaining flow while letting each artist’s style shine through.
The project features established Dirtbox names including Diode, Noise Souls and Lee UHF, alongside core contributors Impex, gANGLADESH and Sigmus. Together, they define the label’s forward-leaning yet grounded sound. Alongside them, a new generation makes its debut: Zak Meow, TIM3LIMIT, Mango, Roadboyz, NRV, Levia, FractalOne, Fr4ktion, Dave Shichman, CyclopsDNB, Bullaway, Bad Ace and 9THWAVE. Their inclusion signals Dirtbox’s ongoing commitment to artist development and long-term growth, rather than one-off releases.
Future editions of DNB Essentials will be curated by different artists, each responsible for their own tracklist and continuous mix. The approach ensures the series evolves organically, reflecting the breadth of global Drum & Bass while maintaining the label’s identity. For Lee UHF, this first instalment sets out the framework for a continuing platform that connects producers, listeners and scenes across borders.
DNB Essentials Vol. 1 will be available digitally on 30 January 2026 via Beatport and Spotify, followed by a wider release on 13 February 2026. Limited vinyl and CD editions will also be pressed, reflecting the label’s belief that compilations remain an essential part of Drum & Bass culture.
