Basic Rhythm is the alias of UK producer and DJ Anthoney Hart, whose work cuts deep into the foundations of jungle, grime, and hardcore. Growing up in East London, Hart was immersed in pirate radio culture and the raw DIY energy of the rave era, experiences that shaped his uncompromising approach to sound.
Under the Basic Rhythm moniker, he has released on influential imprints including Planet Mu and his own Raw Basics, carving a reputation for stripped-back, heavyweight tracks that bridge the past and future of bass music. His projects range from the fierce club pressure of the Raw Trax series to expansive works like Still, which explored more experimental territory.
Hart’s output channels the grit and urgency of his formative years while continually evolving, whether through 12-inch dancefloor cuts like Corner Crew / Driller or the boundary-pushing EPs Sound Killa and Blood Rhythm. With his ongoing commitment to raw, percussive energy and a constant nod to UK underground heritage, Basic Rhythm remains one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary electronic music.
