Jinx is a Birmingham drum and bass producer whose roots in the city’s rave culture stretch back to 1995. A longstanding figure within the Second City’s underground, he has developed a sound defined by raw energy, rolling low-end pressure, and a deep respect for jungle foundations. His productions balance classic Amen-driven movement with modern system weight, reflecting decades spent immersed in the culture both behind the decks and in the studio.
Alongside his own imprint Straight Up Audio, Jinx has built a substantial catalogue across a wide spectrum of labels, including Ruffneck Ting, Born On Road, Jungle Cakes, and Liondub International, as well as releases connected to Sony Music, Bassrush, Anjuna, and Foundation. His versatility has seen him move fluidly between heavyweight rollers, soulful jungle cuts, and high-impact rave material without losing his core identity.
In 2026, Jinx joined Dirtbox Recordings for the sixth instalment of its Rock N Rollerz series. The four-track EP, featuring Rage, Call Me The Boss, Our World, and Grunge, distils his approach into a tightly focused body of work. From relentless break work and chest-rattling basslines to hypnotic grooves and distorted textures, the release captures the full spectrum of his rolling aesthetic while staying firmly grounded in jungle tradition.
With nearly three decades embedded in UK drum and bass, Jinx continues to represent Birmingham’s underground spirit through music built for sound systems, late nights, and dedicated heads.
