Freqax is the alias of Romanian producer Adrian Andrei, active in drum and bass since 2009. His work sits firmly in the harder end of the spectrum, built around dense sound design, sharp drum programming, and a focus on sustained energy rather than short-lived impact.
He first appeared with The Man With No Faith on Sinuous Recordings, establishing an early direction that leaned into darker textures and more aggressive structures. Initially formed as a duo alongside Liviu Spurcaciu, the project became a solo venture after 2012, marking a shift towards a more defined and consistent production style.
Across the years, Freqax has released on a wide range of established labels, including PRSPCT, Future Sickness, Forbidden Society Recordings, Yellow Stripe, Pulsatil Records, and Othercide. His catalogue reflects a steady output of singles and EPs, alongside contributions to albums and collaborative projects.
He has worked with artists such as Counterstrike, Katharsys, Sinister Souls, and Ogonek, while also delivering remixes for names including Agressor Bunx and Brainpan. Alongside his main project, he explores more experimental territory under the alias Freqkid, moving into IDM, funk, jazz, and hybrid electronic styles.
With continued releases and collaborations, Freqax remains an active presence in the harder drum and bass landscape, focused on refining his sound rather than reshaping it entirely.
