Congo Natty, born Michael Alec Anthony West, is a pioneering figure in jungle and drum and bass music. Originally rising to fame as Rebel MC in the late 1980s, he achieved mainstream success with hits like Street Tuff alongside Double Trouble. Transitioning into jungle music in the 1990s, Congo Natty became synonymous with raw, reggae-infused drum and bass sounds.
His seminal album Jungle Revolution cemented his legacy, blending Rastafarian culture, conscious lyrics, and explosive basslines. Tracks such as UK Allstars and Jah Warriors remain timeless anthems of the genre.
Through his label Congo Natty Records, he has mentored and collaborated with iconic artists, shaping the jungle and drum and bass scenes for decades. Known for his spiritual and revolutionary ethos, Congo Natty continues to inspire new generations of producers and fans alike.
