Dominic Tindill, better known as Taxman, is a celebrated British drum and bass producer and DJ originally from Leicester. Renowned for his distinctive jump-up style, Taxman has become a key figure in the genre, creating tracks that resonate with both DJs and fans alike. Inspired by his brother, Original Sin, Taxman began experimenting with production during his teenage years, eventually developing his trademark heavyweight sound.
Taxman gained early recognition with his track The Rebate, released in 2004 on Propaganda Recordings. His collaboration with G Dub on Warp Speed solidified his reputation, and in 2006, he joined DJ Hype and Pascal's Real Playaz label. His iconic track Too Bad became a defining moment, topping drum and bass charts and securing his position as a leading producer. In 2013, he released his debut album Synthetic Visions, showcasing his versatility with tracks such as Rebirth featuring the soulful vocals of Diane Charlemagne.
A unique aspect of Taxman’s artistry is his experience with synaesthesia—a condition where he perceives sounds as colours. This rare ability allows him to create music in a deeply visual way, blending soundscapes and basslines that evoke specific imagery. It’s a trait that has helped shape his innovative approach to production, setting him apart in the drum and bass scene.
Taxman’s live sets are a testament to his command of the decks, delivering electrifying performances that energise audiences. Recently, he has launched TXM Recordings, a platform to further explore his creativity and expand his influence on the evolving drum and bass landscape.
