ASTRLPickle is a collaborative drum and bass project formed between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, bringing together producer Josh of ASTRL Music, vinyl DJ Anthon Darzy, and Christchurch-raised producer O2. Built through years of digging records, DJing, and shared late-night listening sessions, the project combines contrasting musical instincts into a sound rooted in groove, atmosphere, and low-end pressure.
Josh brings more than a decade of production experience shaped by minimal house and bass music, with a focus on space, movement, and sub weight. Anthon Darzy approaches the project from a selector’s perspective, leaning into rhythm, melody, and what the pair describe as “sauce”, the smaller musical details that give tracks warmth and character inside a mix.
The project expanded further through O2, whose melodic drum and bass background added another layer to the collaboration after connecting through a Transition Audio event. Together, the trio move between reflective jungle arrangements, stripped-back rollers, and more dancefloor-focused material without overcrowding the groove.
Their forthcoming Gun Finga EP, released through Trigga Fingaz Records, captures that balance clearly, pairing emotive melodic textures with controlled low-end movement and detailed break work.
