Bad District is a drum and bass collective formed in 2015, originally comprising Ukrainian producer Andrew Markham (Markham) and Russian artists Agnostectics and SVJ. The group later evolved into a duo, with Stephen Facade joining Markham, continuing the project's legacy with a focus on the neurofunk subgenre.
The collective first gained attention with their bootleg of Evol Intent's Flipside, which set the tone for their intense and intricate sound design. Subsequent releases like the Get Out EP on Evol Intent Recordings and the Bluff EP on Bad Taste Recordings garnered support from heavyweight acts including Noisia, Neonlight, Ed Rush, and State of Mind, further solidifying their reputation within the scene.
Stephen Facade officially joined Bad District following their collaboration on Prey, a track from the Bad District EP released on Major League. This record received significant exposure, including a premiere on BBC Radio 1's Drum & Bass Show by René LaVice, showcasing the group's ability to craft music that resonates with both fans and industry professionals.
In 2018, Bad District released the Hyper Drone EP on 0101 Music, featuring standout tracks like Charger, Lost Control, and Voodoo Hardware. The EP highlighted their ability to blend atmospheric soundscapes with hard-hitting beats, cementing their place in the modern neurofunk movement.
