Blacklab: Drum and Bass Biography, Releases and Upcoming Events

Blacklab is a drum and bass duo from Las Vegas, Nevada, comprising brothers Kashim and Kariem. Established in 2013, the pair bring a blend of DJing and production expertise to their music. Kashim, originally from The Bronx, New York, has over a decade of experience spinning UK-inspired sets, while Kariem, a Las Vegas native, focuses on the production side of drum and bass.

Their debut release, the Encounters EP, was launched via You So Fat Records in 2014, garnering attention from notable music outlets, including Hospital Records. This exposure led to their track being featured in Hospital Records' Democast series, with support from Krakota. In 2020, Blacklab released the Violet EP on Soulvent Records, showcasing their versatility within the genre.

Blacklab's sound spans the spectrum of drum and bass, from the deep, rolling tones of neurofunk to the smoother vibes of liquid funk. Their track 'Making Magic' received airplay on BBC Radio 1Xtra, supported by TC on Friction's show, highlighting their growing influence in the scene.

Beyond studio work, Blacklab has supported international headliners and dedicated significant time to refining their craft. Their dynamic approach and commitment to the genre continue to resonate with audiences, solidifying their presence in the drum and bass community.
