Freestyles was a collaborative project between prominent British drum and bass producers DJ Hype and DJ Zinc. Emerging in the mid-1990s, the duo combined their expertise to create tracks that resonated within the jungle and drum and bass scenes.
In 1996, Freestyles released Play the Game / Learn from the Mistakes of the Past, a 12" vinyl that showcased their innovative approach to production. This release, among others, contributed to the evolution of the genre during a pivotal time in its development.
Both DJ Hype and DJ Zinc were already well-established figures in the drum and bass community, and their collaboration as Freestyles further solidified their influence. Their combined efforts brought a unique sound that blended their individual styles, leaving a lasting impact on the genre.
