Johnny Jungle

Johnny Jungle was a prominent alias used by British drum and bass producers Pascal and Sponge during the early 1990s. Emerging from the UK's burgeoning jungle scene, the duo became known for their innovative approach to breakbeats and basslines, contributing significantly to the genre's development.

In 1994, Johnny Jungle released the track Johnny, which showcased their distinctive style and solidified their reputation within the drum and bass community. Their productions were characterised by complex rhythms and deep bass, elements that resonated with the underground rave culture of the time.

Beyond their work as Johnny Jungle, Pascal and Sponge were active contributors to the drum and bass scene through various projects and collaborations. Pascal, in particular, gained recognition for his solo work and later involvement with the label Playaz, further influencing the genre's evolution.

While the Johnny Jungle alias was primarily active in the 1990s, Pascal has remained connected to the music industry. In recent years, he has been involved with Playaz and has also pursued interests outside of music, such as operating a CrossFit gym in High Wycombe. The current activities of Sponge are less documented, reflecting a more private lifestyle post-Johnny Jungle.
