Juan José Díaz, known professionally as Kung, is a Spanish drum and bass producer and DJ originating from Granada. His initial foray into electronic music began several years prior, but it wasn't until around 2007 that he committed to pursuing it professionally. Kung's early releases appeared on labels such as The Factory Digital Records, Ammunition Records, and Melting Pot, garnering attention both domestically and internationally. He has performed in notable venues like El Tren and Industrial Copera in Granada.
In 2012, Kung relocated to London to fully immerse himself in the drum and bass scene. This move led to collaborations with prominent artists, including a notable early partnership with Mefjus. Over the years, Kung's music has been featured on esteemed labels such as Eatbrain, Critical Music, and RAM Records' sister label, Program. His productions are characterised by a deep, grizzly, and subversive sound, blending polished elements with a raw, barbed soul.
Kung's recent work includes contributions to major compilations like Flexout's X album with the track Feral, and Program's Pieces collection with Somebody. His Aegis EP, released on the SRVLNC imprint, showcases some of his most refined work to date, receiving support from influential platforms like Vision Radio, Skankandbass, and Inspected.
With a career spanning nearly two decades, Kung continues to evolve and contribute significantly to the drum and bass genre, establishing himself as a steadfast and innovative artist within the community.
