Richie Brains is a collaborative project comprising renowned drum and bass producers Alix Perez, Chimpo, Fixate, Fracture, Om Unit, Sam Binga, and Stray. This supergroup emerged in 2016, uniting their diverse talents to explore the intersections of drum and bass with footwork, hip-hop, jungle, and grime.
Their debut album, Who Is Richie Brains?, was released on Exit Records in May 2016. The album features 14 tracks, including notable collaborations with vocalists such as Killa P on Bring Dat Back, Fox on Splatta, Trigga on Dem A Talk Bout, and Rider Shafique on Respeck Due. The project was shrouded in mystery prior to its release, with a cryptic promotional campaign that left fans speculating about the artists involved.
The collective's approach to production is characterised by a departure from traditional drum and bass structures, incorporating elements from various genres to create a fresh and innovative sound.
