The Clamps, real name Julien Carbou, is a French drum and bass producer and DJ hailing from Toulouse. Known for his hard-hitting, industrial-infused sound, he has become a prominent figure in the global drum and bass community, blending elements of techno, neurofunk, and cinematic atmospheres into his productions.
Starting his musical journey in the late 1990s, The Clamps developed a unique style rooted in relentless energy and intricate sound design. Over the years, he has released music on acclaimed labels such as Eatbrain, Blackout Music NL, Trendkill Records, and C4C Recordings. Tracks like Conviction and his album Odyssey have solidified his reputation as a forward-thinking producer with a signature sound.
Beyond his solo work, The Clamps is also one half of the duo Burr Oak, alongside fellow producer Opsen. The project showcases their combined talent for creating immersive sonic experiences that blur the lines between drum and bass and industrial electronic music.
