Bcrafty, born Ben Craft in London in 1963, brings an unusual route into drum and bass. Trained at The Royal Ballet School, he performed with companies including Rambert and Michael Clark, developing a grounding in movement, timing, and musical structure that still shows in his productions.

Alongside dance, he studied piano and composed for theatre, before moving into choreography during the 1980s. His work with director Liam Kan on MTV projects placed him around artists such as Technotronic, Pet Shop Boys, and Seal, at a point where electronic music was starting to reshape club culture.

That shift carried into his own path. Collaborations with Meat Beat Manifesto and early studio work pulled him toward breakbeats and low-end music. By the time he relocated to the Netherlands in 2001, he was embedded in the scene as an MC, holding a residency at Jungle Strike in Zaandam and appearing regularly across Arnhem and wider European nights.

More recently, the focus has moved firmly into production. His output moves between darker, tech-led drum and bass and dub-influenced jungle, often leaning on samples and musical phrasing that reflect his earlier background. Releases including Dark Beauty, Shizzler, and Pulluptic mark his ongoing work with Bass Boost, alongside contributions such as All My Nightly Dreams for the Depth Charge compilation.

Now based in Arnhem, Bcrafty continues to develop a catalogue that pulls from decades of musical and cultural experience, without losing sight of how the music lands in a room.
