IMANU, born Jonathan Immanuel Kievit on 14 May 1998, is a Dutch DJ, record producer, and musician known for his innovative and genre-blending approach to electronic music. Emerging from the drum and bass scene under his previous alias, Signal, IMANU quickly gained recognition for his forward-thinking sound design and intricate productions.
His early works under Signal garnered attention from major labels such as Critical Music and Invisible Recordings, where he showcased his talent for creating dark, technical drum and bass. Tracks like “Tripwire” and “Fearless” became staples in the genre, earning him respect from established figures in the drum and bass community.
In 2019, Jonathan rebranded to IMANU to explore a broader musical landscape, transcending the boundaries of drum and bass. His productions now incorporate elements of trap, house, techno, and future bass, resulting in a distinct and versatile sound. IMANU’s 2022 debut album, “Unfold,” received critical acclaim for its boundary-pushing creativity, featuring collaborations with artists such as Noisia, What So Not, and KUČKA.
