Alix Depauw, professionally known as Alix Perez, is a Belgian-born drum and bass producer and DJ, now based in New Zealand. Known for his refined production style and deep, emotive soundscapes, Perez has been a key figure in the liquid drum and bass movement. His debut album 1984, released on Shogun Audio in 2009, established him as a standout producer in the genre.
In 2013, he followed up with Chroma Chords, showcasing his versatility with elements of dubstep and hip-hop woven into his drum and bass foundations. Over the years, Perez has collaborated with prominent artists such as Foreign Beggars, Spectrasoul, and Ivy Lab, demonstrating his adaptability across genres.
In 2016, Perez founded his own label, 1985 Music, serving as a platform for experimental drum and bass, halftime, and dubstep. The label has hosted releases from artists like Skeptical, Halogenix, and Eprom, with whom Perez collaborates under the alias Shades.
