Fade Black is a British drum and bass duo comprising Nick and Andy, who previously produced under the monikers Cruk and Shyun, respectively. Both artists had been making significant strides in the scene as solo producers before deciding to collaborate, bringing together their extensive experience and shared vision to form Fade Black.
In 2019, they released their debut EP, Condemned, on Critical Music, showcasing a diverse range of styles within the drum and bass genre. The EP features tracks such as the technoid-influenced title track Condemned, the heavy-hitting Sluggah, the dark and intense RWD, and the soulful Sane, which features vocals from Leo Law. This release demonstrated their versatility and commitment to pushing the boundaries of the genre.
Beyond their production work, Fade Black has been active in the live music scene, delivering dynamic performances at various festivals and events. Notably, their set at the Critical BBQ in May 2019 at Studio 338 in London was well-received, further establishing their reputation as skilled DJs capable of engaging and energising audiences.
In addition to their work as Fade Black, both Nick and Andy are involved in songwriting and production across various genres, including neo-soul and grime. This broad musical background informs their approach to drum and bass, allowing them to incorporate diverse influences into their sound.
