Elliot Payne, known professionally as Madcap, is a British drum and bass DJ, producer, remixer, and label owner with a career spanning over two decades. His early exposure to music, influenced by his musician father and piano-teaching mother, led him to begin DJing in the early 1990s. From 1995 to 1999, he worked at Buzz Records in High Wycombe, immersing himself in the burgeoning drum and bass scene.

Throughout his career, Madcap has released music on esteemed labels such as Good Looking Records, Metalheadz, and Fokuz Recordings. Notable tracks include Sunset Strip and Red October, which showcase his ability to blend soulful melodies with intricate drum patterns. His remix of Tango's Understanding further exemplifies his production prowess.

In 2013, Madcap co-relaunched the influential label Creative Wax alongside DJ Pulse, contributing to the drum and bass community by releasing both new material and selected back catalogue pieces. This endeavour reflects his commitment to preserving and advancing the genre's rich history.
