Maztek: Drum and Bass Biography, Releases and Upcoming Events

Matteo Cavo, known professionally as Maztek, is an Italian drum and bass producer and DJ from Rome. He began his musical journey at the age of 13, playing guitar and percussion, before transitioning to electronic music at 18, focusing on genres like drum and bass, electro, grime, and dubstep.

In 2005, Maztek founded Subculture Records, which gained international recognition for its releases. His breakthrough came in 2012 with the single Galactica/Odyssey on Renegade Hardware. He has since released music on notable labels such as Hospital Records, RAM Records' sub-label Program, and Drum and Bass Arena.

Maztek has collaborated with artists like Dope D.O.D., producing tracks including Brutality and Millennium Falcon, the latter featuring Redman. His discography includes albums like Three Point Zero (2014) and Warpath (2018), showcasing his signature neurofunk style characterized by intricate basslines and dynamic rhythms.

In 2018, he launched 0101 Music, an independent drum and bass label based in the Netherlands, aiming to promote innovation and emerging talent. After a brief hiatus, Maztek is returning in 2024, bringing his signature futuristic sound back to the forefront as he produces beats for major artists in the scene. Additionally, he’s exploring new sonic landscapes through Aumaaz, his trip-hop and downtempo alias, offering a more atmospheric and introspective style.

With a career spanning over two decades, Maztek continues to influence the drum and bass scene with his innovative productions and collaborations, solidifying his status as a key figure in the genre's evolution.
