Mind Vortex is a British drum and bass duo comprising Laurie Carroll and Stefan Anfield, hailing from the East Coast of England. Both classically trained musicians—Laurie on clarinet and saxophone, Stefan on piano—they transitioned from jazz backgrounds to electronic music production after being inspired by Resonant Evil's 2003 track Troubleshoot. Their shared passion for drum and bass led them to form Mind Vortex, dedicating years to refining their craft.
In 2009, after honing their production skills, Mind Vortex caught the attention of Ram Records, a leading label in the drum and bass scene. Their early tracks, Now It's Time and Onslaught, were featured on Andy C's Nightlife 5 compilation, marking their entry into the industry. Their debut single, Hotbox, released in 2012, received significant acclaim, dominating drum and bass charts and establishing them as emerging talents in the genre.
Throughout their career, Mind Vortex has collaborated with prominent figures in the drum and bass community, contributing to the genre's evolution.
