Friction, born Ed Keeley, is a globally recognised drum and bass DJ, producer, and label owner. Known for his high-energy sets and impeccable mixing skills, Friction has become one of the most respected figures in the genre. Launching his career in the early 2000s, he gained prominence with releases on renowned labels such as Hospital Records, Shogun Audio, and Ram Records.
In 2004, Friction founded Shogun Audio, a label that became synonymous with cutting-edge drum and bass. Through Shogun, he has nurtured talent and released seminal tracks like Set It Off and After Dark. His remix work and original productions have consistently topped drum and bass charts.
Beyond the studio, Friction hosted BBC Radio 1’s flagship Drum & Bass Show from 2012 to 2017, solidifying his role as a key tastemaker. His relentless touring schedule has taken him to prestigious festivals, including Glastonbury and Tomorrowland, where he continues to deliver unforgettable performances.
