Temulent, born Judson Snell, is an American drum and bass producer and DJ hailing from New York City. He began his career in the late 1990s, co-founding the Ohm Resistance label alongside Submerged, contributing significantly to the underground drum and bass scene.
His early work includes the Progressive Illness series, with volumes released in 2001 and 2002, showcasing a fusion of drum and bass, glitch, and experimental electronic music. These releases are noted for their dark atmospheres and complex breakbeats, establishing Temulent's reputation for pushing genre boundaries.
In 2003, Temulent and Submerged launched the Obliterati imprint, aiming to return to the darker origins of drum and bass. Despite the industry's shift away from vinyl, Obliterati continued to release physical records, gaining support from influential artists and maintaining a dedicated following.
After a hiatus focusing on his advertising career and sound design for various media, Temulent returned to music production in 2016 with the creation of his digital label, Nervosa. This platform allowed for the rapid release of singles, including Death Peddler, which received local acclaim. In 2024, he reunited with Ohm Resistance to release the EP Demonologie Chapter One, marking his reestablishment in the dark drum and bass genre.
