Danny Wheeler, an international DJ and drum and bass producer from West London, has been a prominent figure in the electronic music scene since the early 2000s. His debut release, Ghost / Lost Highway, a collaboration with Sub Focus, propelled both artists into the upper echelons of the UK Dance Charts, marking the beginning of Wheeler's influential career.
From a young age, Wheeler immersed himself in London's vibrant jungle scene, DJing on pirate radio stations like Transmission One. His involvement with the legendary Movement nights at Bar Rumba further solidified his presence in the scene, where he shared stages with renowned artists and cultivated a deep understanding of the genre's dynamics.
As the label manager for Infrared Records, Wheeler played a pivotal role in discovering and promoting talent, bringing artists such as Sub Focus, Marky & XRS, and Clipz (Redlight) to the label. His A&R acumen contributed significantly to the label's success, fostering a platform for innovative drum and bass music.
In addition to his work with Infrared, Wheeler established his own imprint, W10 Records, hosting successful events at esteemed London venues like Herbal and Bar Rumba. His album, The Brazil Project, showcased his versatility by blending Brazilian jazz with drum and bass, hip hop, and house influences. Collaborations with artists like Kathy Brown and Taku Takahashi on his debut artist album, Universal Language, further exemplify his commitment to pushing the boundaries of the genre.
Throughout his career, Wheeler has been dedicated to mentoring emerging artists, aiding in the development of acts such as Brookes Brothers, Redeyes, and Chords. His contributions to the drum and bass community, both as a producer and mentor, have left an indelible mark on the genre, influencing its evolution and inspiring a new generation of artists.
