London Elektricity, the stage name of Tony Colman, is a pioneering drum and bass producer, DJ, and co-founder of the iconic Hospital Records. Originally formed as a duo with Chris Goss in the late 1990s, London Elektricity released their debut album Pull the Plug in 1999, blending live instrumentation with electronic elements to redefine the genre.
After Goss stepped away in 2002, Colman carried on the project solo, releasing acclaimed albums such as Billion Dollar Gravy (2003), Power Ballads (2005), Syncopated City (2008), and Yikes! (2011). These releases showcased a rich blend of jazz, soul, and electronica, pushing the boundaries of drum and bass.
Known for his electrifying live performances featuring a full live band, London Elektricity earned widespread recognition, including the BBC 1Xtra Xtra Bass Award for Best Live Act in 2007. Additionally, Colman has been the host of the Hospital Records Podcast, a cornerstone of the drum and bass community.
With an extensive catalogue and a lasting impact on the genre, London Elektricity remains a defining figure in drum and bass, celebrated for his innovation, technical prowess, and commitment to the scene.
